Designing
As a Packaging Design Intern at Zumbiel Packaging using ArtiosCAD, I support structural packaging development by creating and refining dielines, flat patterns, and 3D prototypes for corrugated and folding carton solutions; convert client artwork into manufacturable files with cutting/creasing instructions; validate fit, function, and branding placement through virtual assemblies; check tolerances, material specs, and manufacturing constraints; collaborate with artwork, engineering, and production teams to iterate designs after testing and feedback; and maintain organized project files and BOMs while seeking cost- and material-efficient solutions through nesting and yield optimization.
Physical Production

I set up Kongsberg cuts by importing the ArtiosCAD production files (DXF/CUT or PDF), confirm nesting/imposition for optimal yield, load the correct cutting tool and bed settings for each paperboard type, secure the board on the table, run a short test cut and adjust speed/pressure for flute, chipboard, or folding carton stock, then execute the full cut while monitoring registration and tool wear; after cutting I trim and assemble sample pieces to check fit and glue points, label samples with job ID and revisions, and create production “blankets” (imposed full-sheet layouts) — exported as flattened PDFs/CUT files with marks, material codes, and quantity counts — which I QA, package with production notes/BOM and send to the physical production site for die-making and run scheduling.
Clients
I prepare and QC sample packs with labeled dielines, material specs, BOM, photos, and assembly notes, then securely package and ship via tracked courier. After client approval I finalize ArtiosCAD files, confirm materials and tooling, schedule the die-cut/Kongsberg run, and supervise production. I perform in-line and post-run checks (dimensions, glue/seal strength, fit/function, basic drop/compression or handle tests), log results, make adjustments if needed, and palletize/ship approved batches with QA documentation.
